The Sony NX70V has been a great success in Sony's high-end line of PDAs. It's
packed with fun features and will impress everyone you know. The price of the
NX70V, however, is fairly high, in the neighborhood with many Pocket PCs.
The NX70V has a nice big color screen (that swivels) and a built-in mini
keyboard. But the real eye-catcher is the built-in camera that will take
640 X 480 (JPEG) pictures and record (MPEG-4) video. And the NX70V plays MP3s
as well, to round out the multimedia showcase. It also comes with a voice
recorder and a slot for a wireless card.
Strangely, the NX70V has no speaker. This is surprising considering all of
its multimedia capabilities. So listening to audio requires a headset.
Surprising still is that the NX70V only comes with 16 MB of memory, so you'll
probably end up needing a Memory Stick.
The Sony NX70V has gotten excellent ratings from professionals and everyday
users. Of 175 votes on one web site, 83% recommended the NX70V.
Professional Ratings: 8.8 out of 10 (3 reviews)
User Ratings: 9.3 out of 10 (56 reviews)
Nothing can be perfect though. The Sony NX70V has been criticized for being
too big, which you might expect considering all of the features. And as with
many high-end products, the NX70V has been accused of being overpriced. Perhaps
more importantly are complaints of insufficient memory (only 16 MB). And some
users have had poor customer support from Sony.
